In this volume, a zeppelin raid on London has begun and the munitions factories in London's East End are targets. Charley alerts the people of Silvertown and rushes to save his mother, who had collapsed in one of the factories. Later, Charley hurries to stop his underage brother from joining the army before finding a wounded French soldier.
