Before his death in 2005, Pope John Paul n had a prophetic sense that the Church and the world was about to endure a time of tribulation and testing. Arguably it has already begun. However, he also predicted that it would be followed by a new spring time of Christianity which would be inaugurated by what he referred to as, 'a new evangelization. By calling unbelievers and un-churched people to personal faith in Christ, Spirit-filled evangelisers would harvest countless souls for God. Word and Spirit, not only reflects on this hopeful dynamic, it suggests how believers can facilitate it by: Engaging in different forms of evangelisation. Regularly reading and savouring the scriptures. Fostering community and a sense of belonging. Praying in a number of heartfelt ways.
The book ends with a practical section which is devoted to controversial pastoral issues such as the Occult, private revelation, and the nature and importance of orthodox belief. Book jacket.
