This book is for Christians who are suffering wrongfully or unjustly even though they are "doing good" and attempting to abide by biblical principles. It is not for professing Christians who have broken one of God's laws and now suffer on account of it, e.g., rapists, murderers, thieves, etc. The Apostle Peter's words in 1 Peter 2:19-20 serve as the base text for this book. This book is for those who suffer on account of unjust, bad, or even wicked legislation, judicial decrees, or other public policies that have adversely affected them-or those who have fallen prey to the cunning wiles of state actors or promoters of organized false religion. They suffer because they are imprisoned (often in deplorable and even dangerous, denigrating conditions), have forcibly had their children taken from them, have been wrongly deprived of their property, or have lost their economic wherewithal and (along with it) their ability to work, worship, or otherwise enjoy life. These misfortunes have often been forged by means of false accusations.
This is not to say that these deplorable, denigrated believers have been perfect or sinless; they are repentant sinners saved by grace. In some cases, their sin might have contributed (albeit to a limited extent) to the injustice they now experience (e.g., imprudence, pride, foolishness, lack of diligence, lack of prayer, mistrust, etc.). However, by and large, the penalties they are forced to endure go far beyond what such sin or imperfection should have yielded. Moreover, others have used state or religious authority to affect them disproportionately.
