Caroline was brought up in an Oxfordshire village and later moved to London to study Graphic Design, specialising in Illustration. Caroline has been illustrating children's picture books for nearly twenty years and started to write her own text after her son William was born. She tries to create and retain a hand-crafted feel to her work and has a passion for colour and texture. Influences include American Folk Art and fabric design from the 1950s. She has been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award and the Sheffield Book Award, and has won the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Best Book Award, the Royal Mail Scottish Book Trust Award and the Southampton Book Award. When Caroline is not working in her studio she is probably walking Maddie the dog or riding her horses.
