Driving home from work on a stormy night in May, contractor Mitch Cones witnesses a passing car plunge into the flooding waters of a Missouri river. His hasty decision to attempt a rescue draws him into an unfamiliar world of misconception, fear and ultimately, pure survival. As a rapidly escalating series of consequences resulting from his good deed unfold, he tries to make sound decisions based on incomplete and sometimes faulty information. With his world crumbling around him, right and wrong, good and evil and even friend and foe become harder to ascertain.
