Fonz was born in Mill Road Cambridge and grew up in the city centre and the surrounding villages of Cambridgeshire. He has appeared on a range of Cambridge radio stations talking about local history. He was resident historian at Cambridge First Newspaper and produced the weekly article 'Cambridge in Focus' until the paper ceased production in 2011. He does talks for village groups, schools and libraries and is often involved with walks in the city centre or surrounding villages.
