Since his first collection, Boy with a Kite, in 1981, Ian Caws has continued to develop a perceptive and finely crafted body of poetry that has attracted much favourable attention. The Ragman Totts was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation in 1990. The range of his new book, The Canterbury Road, from love, death, the making of art to Dark Age Christianity; from experience of Scotland, Ireland and France to his own county of West Sussex, will further the reputation of a truly independent voice in contemporary poetry.
