Vanessa-Franchesca Castro was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1985, where she grew up around the rich heritage of the University of Southern California, Trojans Football program. From an early age she understood athletics, participated in them, and developed a highly analytical perspective in all areas. She attended college at the University of Nevada, Reno, and moved to Austin, Texas in July of 2009, where her passion of sports and writing flourished. It was in Texas, that everything she thought she knew about football changed. Castro credits much of her technical development to the 2009 Texas Tech Red Raiders' offensive line, which made her see and appreciate football's intricate details in an entirely different way. After developing a business plan, she moved back to Reno in May 2010 to pursue her dreams and gain exposure in a city she grew to call home, since moving from Palm Desert, CA in 2002.Shortly after returning to Reno she was asked to join a local sports radio show to co-host and produce content. Upon the death of her father in December 2011, she dedicated her entire life and career to authorship, and her first publication: The Modern Girls' Guide to the Gridiron.

VF Castro is an author, blogger, sports contributor for BroBible, Big 12 writer for Saturday Blitz, and the former Editor-In-Chief of WreckEmRed.com, which is the Texas Tech athletics site for the Fansided Network. A student at Harvard, after graduation, Castro plans to take her sports career to Washington D.C. to advocate for athletes.
