Jeff Cannon is a Modern American Monk. After surviving nine brain surgeries that collectively removed more than 20 brain tumors in as many years, he began to teach the very style of meditation that helped him overcome the surgeries and the months and sometimes years it took to fully recover. He is quickly becoming one of the most sought after thinkers in the Modern Meditation Movement. His lifestyle combines the serenity that one associates with traditional meditation, while remaining in tune with the realities of the 21st Century world we all live in. Jeff helped create what is known as Modern Meditation - a form of meditation that weaves traditional techniques together to create a richer, deeper, faster meditation experience. Not finding the answers he was seeking in monasteries or through traditional lineages, he set out to create his own. The result of this journey was his first book on meditation, The Simple Truth: Meditation for the Modern World. This book remains a testament to his ability to balance spirituality with business, physics with metaphysics, the traditional and the contemporary.
As many clients have discovered, he is in a far better place to bring meditation to the masses than teachers who have spent a lifetime in seclusion or in a far off monastery. What makes Jeff's work so compelling is his ability to balance opposing forces. His ideas are at once humble and extreme, devout and minimal - a testament to his own humility while he works to bring the 2,500 year old practice of meditation into modern world we all live in. Jeff follows the original teachings of the Buddha, embodying the yin and the yang that influences so much of his teachings. His is a life of two halves and two opposing forces. To Jeff, the perfect lines and geometries were not produced in schools or in monasteries but through experience; by walking the path of the devout with an eye toward the real world we all live in.Jeff is the author of several books on mindfulness and meditation, a Huffington Post blogger, and a contributor to leading wellness websites such as MindBodyGreen. He is also the founder of The Simple Truth Project.
He continues to work with private clients, occasionally reaching out through public workshops and speaking events. He is a monk with a mission - to teach the 2,500 year old practice of meditation in a way that makes sense to the modern world without losing its beauty or integrity along the way.www.simple-truth.com.
