Rick, the rooster is fast asleep and he should have been awake to crow up the sun and wake up the animals in the barnyard. What is wrong with Rick? He is not sick but just overslept. The animals solve the problem with a very useful gift, and now Rick will always be able to cock-a-doodle-do on time. The simple story has a rhythm to the text and a predictability to the words which will help emergent readers. The colorful illustrations show the action with plenty of humor that also supports the text. At the end of the brief story there is a proposed activity for a classroom or a family--select an animal and decide what it might say and accompany the text with a drawing. Put the pages together to make a book. Zany pictures and brief blurbs tell a little about the author and illustrator of this "Green Light Reader" Level 1 book.
Get up, Rick!
