4Q 4P S In the final installment of the Shadowlands series, all is not well on Juniper Landing, a place the newly dead travel through to resolve their former issues on earth. Rory Miller and the other Lifers have discovered that Tristan and Nadia are behind Juniper Landing's sudden decay and innocent souls being taken to the Shadowlands, a place in the afterlife for those beyond redemption. As Rory searches for Tristan, she struggles with her love for him, doubts about his innocence, and newfound feelings for another Lifer. When her father and sister are forced into the Shadowlands, Rory becomes even more committed to finding Tristan to get answers and to get her family back. Things are not what they seem, though-once Tristan and Nadia are found, Juniper Landing does not go back to normal. With Juniper Landing collapsing and the newly dead getting restless, time is running out for Rory to find out who is really behind all of the misdeeds. In the haste to unfold the plot and wrap up the series, many of the events are not as complete or cohesive as the previous novels. The suspense and tension are somewhat lost in the frantic action.
Fans of the series will be satisfied to have a resolution, albeit a rushed one with some unanswered questions. While Endless does present a coherent story, readers new to the series will need to start at the beginning to understand the premise and relationships.-Jewel Davis.-- VOYA.
