Vostok Watches
This short case profiles VOSTOK Watches, a watch manufacturer that started in Tatarstan. While the company originally served Soviet servicemen and women, it expanded its product line and was a popular consumer brand through the 1980s. However, when the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, locals flocked to inexpensive imported watches, primarily fro China. the case asks students to consider other potential markets where VOSTOK might consider expanding, and what they should consider for VOSTOK's internationalization strategy.
