, LL.B., N. Y. U., 9I. (r).l the evening of September 27th, 1832, the public installation of the Chancellor and professors took place in the rooms of the Mercantile Library Association, Clinton Hall, then located at the corner of Beekman and Nassau Streets.


The ceremonies, in the words of a student who had been matriculated in the morning of that day, were imposing. ' Indeed, it was a rare spectacle to all--the inauguration of the entire body of instructors at one and the same time/ L The exercises opened with prayer by Rev. Dr. Milnor, after which, in the name of the council, he inaugurated the Chancellors and Professors into their respective offices. The Chancellor then read his inaugural address, which was followed by prayer and benediction by Rev Dr. Maclay. Following the inauguration of the Rev. James M.
