Nick is a fairly ordinary student in the 1980s whose life becomes inexplicably too good to be true when he meets his perfect girlfriend. His best friend's mother, Julia, tells him that his life is not what it seems, not real but rather a reflection of her own life twenty years earlier and if something isn't done a devastating tragedy will happen to them. Aware that her own perfect life is also too good to be true, by deception, manipulation and seduction, Julia becomes obsessed with altering the course of this young couple's life, not just to save them but to change her own past.
