Christine L. Borgman is Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, University of California, Los Angeles. She received the M.L.S. degree (1974) from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and its Ph.D. degree (1983) from Sun ford University, California.


While at the University of Pittsburgh, she designed a training program for PIRETS, one of the first attempts to train end-users of information retrieval systems. Dr. Borgman is the author of numerous articles on training for information retrieval, human-computer interaction, and library automation, and is a contributor to the Encyclopedia of Library and Information Science (Marcel Dekker, Inc.). She is a member of the American Society for Information Science, Association for Computing Machinery, American Library Association, and the International Communication Association. Dineh Moghdam is Assistant Professor in Computer Information Systems at Bentley-College, Waltham, Massachusetts and a private consultant in library and information sciences. L.S. degree (1972) from the University of Tehran, Iran and the Ph.D. degree (1974) from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her doctoral dissertation, "The New York Times information Sank in an academic environment and a computer-assisted tutorial for its non-specialist users," was a winner in the 1975 American Society for information Science Doctoral Forum Competition. She is the author of Computers in Newspaper Publishing: User-Oriented Systems (Marcel Dekker, Inc.).


As a professional consultant, Dr. Moghdam's interests include user information needs, research and training, human factors in computer systems, and design of information systems. Patti K. Corbett is a Product Manager for Personal Computer Education and External Database, SMS, Inc., Malvern, Pennsylvania, a health care data processing firm. Previously, she has lie id positions as Director of Ciocca Library, University of Pittsburgh and Senior Librarian at SRI International. Ms. Corbett is also an Education Officer for Excerpta Medics and a Section Editor of Medical References Services Quarterly.


She received the M.L.S. degree (1974) from Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia.
