Long kayaks are often transported on top of a car - a method that required lifting and manipulation that my wife and I were unable to achieve. We needed a simple and inexpensive solution. My final transporter design cost only $20 and took less than a day to build. It is the easiest way you will ever find to transport your kayak - easier than a kayak trailer, easier than a rooftop carrier, even easier than a truck. My transporter attaches to my existing trailer hitch on my SUV and allows me to load and unload a 14-foot kayak all by myself, in just a few minutes. And driving with the kayak loaded is almost the same as just driving the car. Backing up does not require awkward trailer antics and maneuvering through a parking lot is uncomplicated and effortless. Don't let not having a hitch prevent you from considering this solution.
Once you see how easy my transporter is to build, and how fantastic it is to use, I don't think you will be disappointed. This full-color book explains exactly how I built it.
