Dick Blair is a man who many would say was "self made" in that his father deserted the family when Dick was only 2 years old. Being brought up by his mother, was shuttled to other relatives over the years, taking Dick to Mexico City and various points in CA. He learned to work at a very early age and ultimately became a successful entrepreneur. This memoir is a good read as it includes the many events occuring in a young man's life as his mother had no choice but to let her boys learn to fend for themselves. Dick would now say, "self made. NO! God created my inmost being: He knit me together in my mother's womb. God ordained all the days of my life". Psalm 139:13.

After winning many awards and accolades for athletics, business performance and volunteerism, he found his life in shambles several times. Including being over worked and under paid, failing marriages, episodes of great loneliness, but never to give up. Then he "woke up" to the reality that God had saved him from so many calamities as He had walked with him during his entire life, he prayed to receive Christ and he was like a bucking bronco out of the chute! Focusing the rest of his life on spreading words of HOPE and PROMISE to the lost, here in the U.S. but also serving in evangelistic and discipleship roles throughout the world. Fighting in the Korean War, having a family he adores, building businesses and doing ministries as well as many other endeavors have now lead to his fighting the greatest battle of his life. That of battling terminal cancer and the additional symptoms that come with trying to survive. He continues to mentor those needy for the truth.

He lives in Santa Barbara, CA with his wife Jeannette. Their son Jake lives in the neighborhood which he so appreciates. He is in home hospice. Dick's favorite scripture is "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength". Philippians 4:10 Another Scripture that Dick lives his life by is James 1: 2-3 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything.".
