RAF Tornado : 1974 Onwards (all Makes and Models)
The Panavia Tornado F3 Air Defence Variant (ADV) is an interceptor version of the Panavia Tornado, which has been in service with the RAF since 1986. It is a long-range, twin-engine aircraft, originally designed to counter the Cold War threat from Soviet bombers as they came in from the East to strike the United Kingdom. Author and former RAF Tornado F3 pilot Ian Black flew the Tornado in the First Gulf War and later in policing the no-fly zones. In March 2011 he managed to take some of the last dramatic photographs of 111 Squadron's F3's in the air and on the ground. .
