Adam Richardson, a once-promising FBI agent, has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. Now relegated to his small apartment in Northwest Arkansas after being hospitalized for six months, Adam is given a reprieve when his old partner contacts him and says he needs Adam's help. Recently promoted to a small unit under the oversight of the Department of Homeland Security, he wants Adam to help him investigate highly classified cases involving ghosts, aliens, witches, and other paranormal and fringe science events. Adam wants to find out if the things he sees and hears are real, and sees this job as a chance at salvation. But both Adam's brother and his psychiatrist are hesitant to let Adam return to such dangerous work, and would refuse completely if they knew the nature of the cases he's being asked to investigate. All they know is that the work is classified Compartmentalized, above Top Secret. That means no photocopies, no electronic records, no facsimiles - these files are Eyes Only.
