As a teenager Richard Bennett made his first subsurface exploration of the underwater world and would spend the next six decades in every aspect of the commercial and sport diving field.A fifty year member of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (P.A.D.I #12 Master Scuba Diver Trainer) with a twenty-five parallel career as a commercial diver it gave him more than enough questions to keep him searching for answers. In the 1960's Bennett was one of the working divers who raised the 110 foot ship 'Alvin Clark from a frigid and dark 105 foot depth of Green Bay, Wisconsin. In the 1970's he was diving supervisor and general manager of Green Dolphin Ltd. a treasure hunting expedition in the Cayman Islands.

In the 1980's he thought becoming a producer, director and host of a one hour television series on the marine environment might supply answers, it only created a larger questioning palate.During the 1990's he was the focus of the popular NBC TV series 'Unsolved Mysteries' when henot only did the actual dives, but also acted as the rigger, and shot all the underwater footage used in the program. In the 2000's he began lecturing and giving presentations on the world he knew and loved.Bennett is the author of three books; 'Deep Quest the Entry', 'The Sunken Treasure of Poverty Island', and 'Island of Bones'. Bennett has worn at least a dozen additional diving related hats over his sixty-plus year journey which began as a small boy sparked by his older brother Robert Bennett Jr. imagination about the undersea realm. At the Professional Association of Diving Instructors trade show in Las Vegas November 2016 he received an award for 'His 50 years of contributions to the dive industry'.And in February 2017 in Chicago he received the prestigious 'Our World Underwater', 'Dedication to Midwest Diving' award.
