At about noon, 23 September 2010, on a very clear chilly day, I stood atop Mount Katahdin in the company of fellow thru-hikers and achieved my goal. Of the many things I have realized in my life.thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail was one awesome accomplishment well worth achieving and one that I will remember for the rest of my life. - Master Chief In 2010, John J Barron decides to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail and fulfills a life-long dream. This work is a chronology of that 176 day, Georgia to Maine thru-hike. The book and slideshow steps you through the hike and is a record of an almost six months, 2,179 mile journey over very rough terrain in some of the most majestic country in the world. The 1,119 jpeg format pictures on the two CD slideshow tell his story in a way words cannot. These CDs play on CD/DVD players or computer slideshow programs.

Music wasn't incorporated into the slideshow so to give viewers the opportunity to listen to what ever sounds or genre music they prefer as they see the trail through Master Chief's camera lens. The pictures are sequenced in the orders in which they were taken except for a few rearranged to better tell the story. Many were photo shopped to identify places, people and things and to mark elevations, dates and mile points on the trail. Where explanations need to further describe or better understand an image of a view or scene, words were incorporated. Over 400 hikers are identified by their trail name. This thru-hike account is available for everyone who has ever wondered of the Appalachian Trail and the people you meet to share fellowship. It is a story of great Americans told in pictures during one man's walk of the trail. It is often said that you should experience your own country first before traveling abroad.

This slideshow will open your eyes to a very beautiful eastern United States.
