Starting over can be difficult at any age, but when you start getting a little older, in my case close enough to fifty to see it, starting over affects you on many levels. You don't expect yourself to be starting over in a small apartment, working overtime just to further your writing and film projects. Life is supposed to get easier as you get older. But that doesn't mean that it will. I live a simple existence, but I'm working harder than I ever have before, just trying to get to where I thought I'd already be in this life. As anyone that knows me will confirm, I have generated an enormous body of work in the last year, I am not only inspired, but driven. Anyway, when you are starting over you meet people and go places you otherwise wouldn't have, and those random things can be the inspiration you need to move forward. When an experience truly moves you, it can inspire work that you are proud of.
I have found myself in a strange new world I never expected. And I have to admit, that although life is a daily struggle to get where I want to be, in hindsight, I wouldn't change a thing. I firmly believe my best days are still ahead of me.Thank you for taking the time to read these words.Ken Barr September 2012.
