LeMarcles? Who is that? Well, basically, he is a pneuman, which is a species of human-like people from a planet called Mernea. The Pneumans are plagued by two possibilities of extinction, which are being studied, but are both well recognized. He is the sitting Varquelean, which is a presidential position on his planet, but how did he get there? He starts off as a weak, pushed around kid, growing in to a weak pushed around guy who has chosen politics as his career. The world has moved on to socialism, which, for obvious reasons, is more than likely the form of government a futuristic society would live under, but LeMarcles, born very priviledged, at least to the eyes of the world, is a laughed at, stammering republican, bent on establishing himself in law making. His father, Shrewden Mercix is a genious, heartless, bagillionair and inventor of Extremophile fuel and the engines that run on them, who was plagued by a genetic insanity, eventually committing suicide. LeMarcles grew up under this man's rules, which was hard enough, but as he gets older, the insanity begins to plague his mind as well. What comes with it, but an concentrated evil insanity, further fueled by his upbringing. The story, while covering his activities during his last days on the planet, in the first few paragraphs of each chapter, also slowly tells the story of just how he got here, to where he is.

Over the course of much time, he changes from the push around to the confident, organized and controlling man that he is today. The story covers quite a bit of ground; hundreds of years in fact. During that time, he somehow gets elected into a government position, has more success, being elected, somehow, into his current position, finds himself having to move the entire population from one planet to another, because his current planet has been determined to be losing it's atmosphere quickly. After the jump, which it was called, the possibility of extinction still continues, a result of the sun's expansion. What will he do? LeMarcles deals with issues, of all sorts, and even past issues, in just the way his personality suggests he might. From the very first page, it is made aparent how foul, terrible, horrific and tainted has become, or always was. It all culminates into a bit of a surprise ending, if surprise is even a possibility at this point and is quite a good ending, if you don't mind my saying, or, at least, I tried to make it. I hope you enjoy.
