After the events in 'Somewhere near Mason,' Jake and Linda Lee Barton are still on the run from the Texas State Police, and the capricious Molly continues to confound the authorities looking for her. Sheriff Williams sympathizes with all three but is being pressured as well to help turn them in. Their main ally is the 200,000 square miles of west Texas, where it's easy for a man or woman to disappear.
