Mary Flynn and the remaining members of her family are forced to leave a bleak life in their homeland of Ireland, to live in servitude at a new home in Nineteenth-Century America. She arrives with little hope while living under the control of her new employers, but soon relies on her wit, charm, and intelligence to see her through a most challenging circumstance: her love and loyalty for the Lady of the house. With a plan and a knack for winning people over in her Master's favor, Mary embarks on a difficult journey toward a new future.
