In John 6, we learn that many of Jesus' followers had deserted Him. At this point Jesus turned to His most loyal followers and said, "You do not want to leave too, do you?" (John 6:67). Peter spoke for all the disciples when he said, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life" (John 6:68). Jesus' words, along with all the words of Scripture, bring life to us. God's Word:*meets our deepest needs, *points us to freedom and deliverance from our sins, *gives us guidance to shape our character,*encourages us in difficult times, and*gives us wisdom to make good choices. As Christians, we have a wonderful blessing. We can open up the Bible and, with the leading of God's Holy Spirit, find the words of life. Our vitality as Christians depends on a consistent interaction with God, through His Word.
