With different mothers but sharing the same father, Chloe and Caio are brought together by the last wishes of their late father Geoff. He has requested that they travel in his ancient VW camper van all the way from Wales to Morocco, to return the vehicle to his long-lost friend Ten.The siblings don't know each other well but they have plenty of sibling rivalry already established. Like their father, they are both keen surfers, but Chloe has taken surfing to a whole different level compared to her father and brother, and has been successfully competing around the world. Caio has to deal with his older sister's skills being feted wherever they go in the surfing world, and somehow find his own satisfaction in the sport. When they set off on their journey the surfboards come too, and a plastic flask containing their father's ashes, to be sprinkled in all the best surfing seas they hope to find. But very rapidly things spiral out of control. First their dad's beloved camper van is stolen, then they're rescued by Jason in his big flash car, who seems almost too good to be true, and perhaps he is.

This riveting story follows Chloe and Caio as they decide to continue on their journey to find Ten, with or without the van, and to taste as many different surfing spots on the way as they can. It is also a journey for both of them in learning to know and trust each other, and it leads eventually to the siblings finding greater understanding of their father.Tom Anderson writes sensitively around the human emotions of the siblings as they face different challenges. He brings a gritty realism to the joys and downfalls of travelling footloose from one continent to another and recreates the sensations, smells, sounds and visuals of foreign places, from the beaches of France and Spain to the crowded markets of Marrakech. But what runs through this book, and through the lives of Chloe and Caio, is the surfing. They become part of an ever-moving cohort of enthusiasts, travelling from beach to beach, following the waves, waiting for the waves, beating or being beaten by the waves. Always sharing the joy and the exhilaration, the defeat and disappointment. And always discovering more about themselves and each other.
