Michael C. Morris received his PhD in Foreign Language Education from the University of Iowa in 1997. He is currently an Associate Professor at Northern Illinois University, where he teaches courses in Spanish language and linguistics as well language teaching methodologies, coordinates the first- and second-year Spanish program, and oversees the foreign language teacher certification program. His research focuses on the analysis of foreign language teachers' beliefs regarding instruction and the relationship of these beliefs to their classroom practices, as well as foreign language program assessment. He has done work as a contributing writer for McGraw-Hill on the fifth and sixth editions of Pasajes.
