Alexandra Adams, MD, PhD, is a pediatric obesity treatment specialist and professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Adams graduated with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where she also received her PhD in Nutrition. A well-known researcher in childhood obesity prevention with families; Dr. Adams has authored many articles in scientific journals, and presented her work at national and international scientific conferences. For the past 14 years, her research has been consistently funded by the National Institutes of Health and she won an award from the Obesity Society for her research. Her self-published book on using bedtime routines to improve sleep habits for young children, "Little Beavers Go to Bed", is currently being used successfully in her healthy lifestyles research intervention with hundreds of families. The Indian Health Service aims to disseminate this to families nationally in 2014.
Dr. Adams has a regular speaking engagement on "Live at 5", Channel 15, in Madison, has had numerous radio interviews, and her work with children at the UW Pediatric Fitness Clinic was featured in "The Weight of the Nation", a national PBS special in 2012.
