John Adams Sr. received his bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College in 1961, his education degree from South Dakota State University in 1963, and a master's degree from South Dakota State University 1968. He has journalism experience in college, both on the undergraduate and graduate level, and taught high school and coached from 1963 to 1973. In 1973 he started The Lakes News Shopper, a free circulation newspaper in Dickinson County, Iowa. He wrote a political column weekly from 1973 to 2007, covering current happenings and local stories of interest. In 2007 he started alternating weekly columns with his golden retriever Savvy. This is his first published book, but he regularly contributes to church and civic publications.
