Prof. Dr. Awad Shehata gained his Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine from Alexandria University, Egypt, and "Approbation als Tierarzt" at Ludwig-Maximilians-University University, Munich, Germany. He obtained a master degree in avian diseases at Sadat City University, Egypt, and completed his Ph.D. (Dr. med. vet.

) in ,,Virology" at the Faculty of Medicine, Leipzig University, Germany. Dr. Shehata obtained his Dr. habilitatus in ,,Bacteriology and Poultry diseases" at Leipzig University. In 2022, he was honored with a Professor of "Avian Diseases" title from Sadat City University. Besides his academic work at several universities, he has industrial experience in vaccine production and the development of alternatives to antimicrobials. He is a certified Quality manager, Auditor, Project manager, European Business Competence License level EBCL, Good Manufacturing Practice, FELASA-B and -C, and phytotherapist. Dr.

Shehata's research interests lie mainly in developing alternatives or complementary to antimicrobials (developing and evaluating recombinant vaccines, live attenuated bacterial vaccines, inactivated vaccines, probiotics, and prebiotics) and diagnostic strategies and studying avian pathogens' epidemiology and molecular epidemiology. Dr. Shehata has taught Avian diseases and Microbiology courses in English and German at several universities worldwide. He is currently a project leader at the Structural Membrane Biochemistry, Technical University of Munich, Germany, to study the analysis and mechanism of actions of natural products, metabolic pathways, and fluxes in various organisms by 13C-labelling experiments and profiling. Prof. Dr. Guillermo Tellez-Isaias received his MS and DVM in Veterinary Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and his Ph.D.

from Texas A&M University, USA. He worked as a professor at UNAM for 16 years, 8 as head of the Avian Medicine Department, College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Tellez-Isaias was president of the National Poultry Science Association of Mexico, and a member of the Mexican Veterinary Academy and the Mexican National Research System. Currently, he is a research professor at the Center of Excellence in Poultry Science, University of Arkansas, USA. His research is focused on poultry gastrointestinal models to evaluate the beneficial effects of functional foods to enhance intestinal health and disease resistance. Apl. Prof.

Dr. rer. nat. Eisenreich gained his diploma in Chemistry (Dipl. Chem.) from the Technical University of Munich, Germany (TUM). He worked as a guest scientist at Procter & Gamble, Brussels, Belgium, and completed his Dr. rerum naturalium (Dr.

rer. nat) at the Faculty of Chemistry, TUM. In 2006, he gained the venia legendi, and in 2014, he was appointed as apl. Professor for Biochemistry at TUM. For more than 20 years, Eisenreich has headed an independent research group studying natural products, metabolic pathways, and fluxes in various organisms, including plants. Eisenreich and his co-workers became welcome partners on a national and international level in sharing their analytical expertise and techniques to determine the structures of bioactive compounds, including triterpenes, and to study their formation and function by 13C-labelling experiments and profiling.
