This illustrated picture book introduces young readers to common words and phrases in Cree while riding Nimoshom's (my grandfather's) school bus. A school bus driver shares his language with the kids who ride his bus. Explores the common experience of young children riding the school bus, as well as the relationship they share with their driver. Provides picture and context support for learning new words and phrases in Cree, as well as a word list in the back of the book. Cree is one of the most widely spoken Indigenous languages in Canada. The author's first book, Powwow Counting in Cree , won the McNally Robinson Book for Young People Award (2014). This story was inspired by the author's own grandfather, who was a bus driver in a rural northern community. This book is highly recommended by Debbie Reese from AICL.
