The third in the Matt O'Malley series starts with Matt finding a dead body on a bateau sunk in Lake George during the French and Indian War. Before he knows it he is being pursued by the pathologically evil disgraced former MI-5 agent Myles Smythe who will do anything to locate a treasure trove of African blood diamonds. The diamonds are being held by an young African immigrant whose entire family had be slaughtered in Africa and now he is forced to make a choice between his faith in the Adirondack's own St. Kateri Tekakwitha and the lives of his adoptive family. The plot line takes a number of unexpected turns as the deceptive characters double cross each other.
