Drawing heavily on American diplomatic archives, the authors examine American policies toward Romania from the Iron Guard through the developments following Ceausescu's execution. Throughout the narrative, Bucharest-Washington relations are analyzed within the broader context of Soviet-American and Soviet-Rumanian relations.
